Most of us are familiar with David’s 23 Psalm. The Lord is my Shepherd, where David compares the Lord to shepherds who take care of their sheep. But at the end the Psalm, he writes that the Lord prepares a feast before us in the presence of our enemies.
And what a feast he’s prepared for us not only here on earth but in Heaven. Some ignore the feast and head to McDonalds or Burger King, while others sit at the Lord’s banquet table and taste every morsel that the Lord serves us, even things that don’t taste so good. We know that the Lord has a reason for serving the bitter along with the sweet, and the sour along with the satisfying.
We sit at the banquet table of life, enjoying each course, every bite and every imaginable taste. We don’t complain that the service is slow or that that server didn’t keep our water glass full. We know that the Lord knows what to serve us at the proper time, with the proper taste, and at the proper temperature so that we can safely swallow it. That’s what faith is all about. Bon Appetit!
