It Sounded Like A Bomb Exploding Behind Me

It happened some twenty years ago, but I remember it like it was yesterday.

With one mile to go on my four-mile run through Coconut Grove, I heard what sounded like fireworks behind me.  

I spun around to look. Barreling down the sidewalk no more than 100 feet from me was an out-of-control van.

It had severed a piling twice as thick as a telephone pole and was ready to integrate my body with the sidewalk.

Have you ever had to act fast without thinking?

With all the energy I could muster I scrambled forty feet to safety next to the sailing club. The van sped down the sidewalk—to be greeted at the Coconut Grove Convention Center by an officer holding handcuffs and a breathalyzer.

You are my God;

God can easily bring us home in a nano-second. Sometimes, by the grace of God, He keeps us around to do His will.

Today, give God the thanks He deserves because you trust in Him.
