I lost my voice this week, while sharing my 50+ years of foodservice knowledge with newbies at a conference in New Orleans.

Like the Farmers Insurance spokesman, I’ve seen a thing or two.

But why spend time with the newbies when I could learn from those at my level or above?

You may be in my shoes where you want to learn more, but there are those who need your time, treasure and talent. 

It boils down to giving or receiving. 

It’s a choice you’ll need to make many times a day.

Mark gives us the answer, sharing how Jesus spent his time with the little children, even against the advice of his disciples. 

He gave, rather than looking to received.

As for me, coming home hoarse and tired, my heart was at peace knowing that I shared my time and talent with those in need.

For you it might be spending more time with your family (hugging if a hug is needed), your friends (listening if they need a listening ear) or your team members (helping them rise to their own potential).

Here’s what Jesus did. How about you?

Mark 10:13-16 13People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them. 14When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. 15Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” 16And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them.
