“Where’s Melissa?”
One day in early 1994 I posed this question to one of my event managers.
“Oh, she decided to leave and work for another caterer.”
Melissa was a model and a popular bartender. Everyone loved her. After she left, we missed her . . . but, in our business, we’ve grown used to it.
People are always looking for the fabled greener pastures.
Not long after the day I noticed Melissa was gone, we heard news of a terrible accident on Miami Beach. The thing that shocked us even more was that Melissa had been the victim.
Early one morning, as she was loading bread into her car, a drunk driver slammed into her from behind.
