How Loud Would You Cheer?

Things have been jumpin’ around here lately!

(If you were at the big concert, you’ll know what a pun that is.)

Hundreds of thousands of tennis fans flocked to the Miami Open.

And tens of thousands danced the night away at the Ultra Music Festival held in Miami Marine Stadium.

As JamBase reported: “Dutch DJ Armin van Buuren helped close out the festival, where he welcomed David Lee Roth for a live remix of the Van Halen classic ‘Jump.’”

But, less happily, the headlines screamed
Stones Postpone Tour, Millions Disappointed.
I was among the disappointed.

I grew up with Mick and the Stones, seeing them for the first time at Cornell in the mid-sixties in Ithaca—and then in later years rockin’ to their music at the Orange Bowl and the AAA Arena here in Miami. 

I’ve always marveled at Mick Jagger’s energy as he prances and sings his way through a marathon two-hour concert. 

But now great-grandfather Mick is undergoing surgery to have his heart valve replaced. The amount of media coverage for this alone is remarkable.

You may not be a Stones fan, a tennis fan or even an electronic music fan but, like most of us, you have those shows or sporting events you love to see. 

And at times you stand and cheer.

You give them your undivided attention—sometimes to the point of worship.

John 5:44

 “How can you believe,
since you accept glory from one another
but do not seek the glory that
comes from the only God?”

Did you get the full thrust of that?

Since you accept glory from one another. . . . 

Can you imagine if we cheered and rooted for God in the same way we do for the Stones, tennis superstars, and our favorite sporting heroes? 

This doesn’t mean concerts and sporting events are bad.

God wants us to have fun. 
BUT . . .

He also wants us to stand and cheer for Him.  

And WITH Him.

After all, He made us, and HE deserves the ultimate glory.
