Christmas Wreaths, Mailing Labels and Rose Bushes

The seed was planted in my heart.

Since my single-digit years in the 1950s I’ve known that God wanted me to be an entrepreneur.

I sold Christmas wreaths, mailing labels, and rose bushes. While at Cornell I sold clothes, canned goods, ice cream, soda pop—and even beer to my fraternity brothers and other students.

Paying my dues while working for others from the late 60s until 1980, my seed was watered and fertilized and kept on shooting up.

When it grew out of control, it was pruning time.

God is the Master Gardener.

Pruning time was when I was not growing the way God wanted me to.

He sent me back along my path and then gave me strength to follow His path.

I was not always at peace during these years, and at times I grew impatient.

What seed has God planted in your heart? Where are you in the growth process?

Are you at peace with your circumstances?

Are you at a place where you know there’s more?

Is it watering, fertilizing or pruning time?

Or, is it time to ask God for a new seed?

Psalm 126, Verses 5 and 6

5Those who sow with tears
will reap with songs of joy.
6Those who go out weeping,
carrying seed to sow,
will return with songs of joy,
carrying sheaves with them.

It’s been 39 years since my seed blossomed into a blessed life as a business owner. God continues to water, fertilize and, at times, prune me back, so that I can grow along the lines of His plans.

Do you know what your job is, working under the Master Gardener?

To conceive that the seed is from God . . .

To believe that He’s with you . . .

And to allow God to help you achieve the desire He planted in your heart.

And, remember.

You’re never too old and it’s never too late!
